Now that your website is set up, it’s time to start getting visitors. Or maybe you’ve had your site up for a while, but haven’t figured out the secret to sweetening your site so those honeybees (customers) flock to it.
Either way, there are plenty of strategies to boost your web traffic.
Make Sure the Site is Easy to Navigate
For the visitors you do get, what’s their experience on your site? Is it easy to get from one page to another? Your bounce rate is a good indicator of how user-friendly your site is. This is the percent of visitors to your site who leave after landing on just one page. They don’t click around or spend significant time there. The lower your bounce rate, the better.
You can lower your rate by making sure it’s easy to navigate throughout the site. If your website provides value and is what people expected before clicking on it, you’ll attract more visitors and potential customers.
Connect Social to Your Site
If people find your company through social media, you can lead them back to your site. Here are some techniques:
- Offer a free report or whitepaper for email subscribers, then link to the landing page for the offer
- Share your blog content
- Ask for feedback on products
Remember, too, to connect your site to your social profiles so people on your site can easily connect to you via Twitter, Google +, and more.
Consistently Produce Valuable Content
If you didn’t know this secret: your blog has the biggest potential to drive traffic to your site. By writing about topics your audience cares about (including engaging titles) and sharing this content, you’ll draw the right people to your site.
Look at your competitors’ blogs, and read top news and industry sites to see what topics your audience cares about, as well as to simply understand what good writing looks like. Keep your posts between 400 and 600 words, and break them up with subheaders and bullets to make them easy to skim.
Include social sharing icons so anyone who reads your content can easily share it.
The more traffic you get to your site, the more you’ll turn into customers. Pay attention to your numbers so that you can continually develop new strategies to draw new visitors.
