You Have to Be a Sales Person if You Want to Build a Million Dollar Business

The lifeblood of any small business is sales. You might have the best product or service in the world, but if you don’t sell enough, you will never realise your full potential. Marketing draws the customer to your business and sales takes over from there.  As the owner of a business, you have no option but to become a good sales person, especially when you start out.

Face-to-face selling requires a lot of time and preparation but it still beats any other method of selling.  Always try to see the customer personally so that you can make a presentation.

  1. Actually, the same is true if one wants to be an effective person whether in business or in personal life. For example, if you want to persuade a significant other to vacation as a ski holiday in the Rockies while she would prefer to lie on some sunny beach, you have to sell her the benefits of a winter vacation.

  2. While organizing the National Business and Technology Conference this year, I had a pleasure of meeting a few really good sales people, and was also amused by a couple of terrible ones. It is quite interesting how the first 10 seconds that somebody is selling you a product pretty much define whether you want it or you don't, and everything else becomes icing on a cake.
