Toronto-based custom stationery designer, Jonesy, announces a switch to new, “green” stationery products in response to the company’s dedication to social and environmental initiatives.

Jonesy has been designing unique stationery products since 2006, with a variety of products available both directly and through select retail outlets. In late 2007, Jonesy switched to producing its retail line of cards using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper and soy base inks. Jonesy’s new printer, Accell Graphics, is proud to be FSC certified.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international organization that brings people together to find solutions which promote responsible stewardship of the world’s forests. “It is important to me to be aware of how the products I produce affect the environment,” explains Jonesy’s Creative Director, Nina Jones. Jonesy has not lost focus on its commitment to high quality, however, ensuring that their integrity remains in tact with their new environmentally conscious changes.

The intent of the FSC certification system is to shift the market in the direction of eliminating habitat destruction, water pollution, displacement of indigenous peoples and violence against people and wildlife that often accompanies logging. Just like other forest products, in order to use the FSC logo as an “environmental claim” on paper, the product must have flowed through the FSC chain-of-custody” from the FSC-certified forest, to a paper manufacturer, merchant, and finally printer who have FSC chain-of-custody certification.

“I want to do everything I can to do my part in supporting the highest social and environmental standards,” says Jones, confirming her loyalty to responsible forest management. Along with her dedication to using FSC certified paper and soy based inks for their retail line of cards, the company is also now using FSC papers and FSC certified printers for its other custom-designed stationery products, wherever possible.
